Here's a step-by-step look at how we created the project website.
A lot goes into developing a cohesive, professional website. The J&PR team collaborated in every Zoom meeting to decide on all the nitty-gritty details including the header image. Students had to determine which image would best represent both the METX brand and the Bidwell Mansion brand. They had the option to choose between a drone shot produced by faculty or five still images provided by the lead J&PR photographer. The team also had to determine the storytelling order, the timeline layout and the content for the team profiles.
Typically, the entire METX class gets the opportunity to visit the client at the beginning of every semester. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, this semester we had half of the J&PR team head up to the Bidwell Mansion to interview students involved in the immersive experience and 2D video. Meanwhile, the rest of the team worked on the format and logistics of the team profiles. To facilitate the process, the students created a Google Form and a headshot/action shot submission folder and kept track of those submissions on a Google Sheet. After the interviews, those students proceeded to construct an accurate depiction of the processes behind building those deliverables for the client.
After the content has been collected and edited, the web designers on the J&PR team are able to dive into Adobe Dreamweaver and get to work. On May 14, the sites get uploaded to a public server and become live.
